Join us and provide recreational services to children with developmental delays or disabilities--in beautiful, seascape locations by the beach offering sports such as horseback riding, baseball, bike riding and swimming.

Each and every child deserves a lifetime full of accomplishments! In this role, you will:
Provide ongoing support to children supported by fostering an environment in which active treatment is ongoing and assist people supported in becoming active participants in daily recreational activities, including socialization events.
Maintain communication with the parents and program about appropriate recreations.
Visits residential sites weekly Plan, schedule, and coordinate all recreational activities by creating a monthly calendar specific to each residence (4) including hobbies, sporting events, individualized activities.
Non-school days will feature morning and afternoon/evening activities.
Send out the Recreation Calendar for the upcoming month to the families and program at least 3 days prior to the following month.
Attend routine recreations at least 2x a month.
Responsible for adhering to the recreation budget and reviewing expenses with the Director.
Work with outside entities to ensure continuous/routine involvement in recreations.
Ensure alternative recreations are available if weather conditions or other issues arise.
Troubleshoot with staff or Management in case of concern for carrying out a recreation.
Performs the responsibilities of a Direct Support Professional, when necessary.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures, ranges of disability, genders, ethnicity and races.
Demonstrate the ability to recognize and manage personal behaviors to create an Inclusive, equitable and welcoming environment.
Demonstrate the ability to successfully deliver culturally responsive services to children and families.
We require:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Valid and Qualified NYS Driver's License and ability to drive to and from recreations Minimum one (1) year experience working with people with developmental disabilities Experience and with Autism preferred Good verbal and written communication skills Good organizational and administrative skills Physical aspects may include but are not limited to participating in physical activities, moving equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
